These portable appliance tester (PAT) and isolation transformer kits were used for training purposes only and all are in very good condition. They have only had limited use. Do show some signs of use.
The TNT GenIV el RCD model PATs were very popular because they were fast and super easy to use. Simply set up the test, press the button for either Class 1, Class 2 or Lead/Powerboard and the PAT goes through an automated series of tests as required under AS/NZS 3760. Actual readings are displayed while working through the tests. On completion the PAT displays an overall PASS or FAIL outcome.
The PAT has an alternative menu for testing powerboards with surge protectors, performing leakage current testing in liue of 500V DC IR test and also trip time testing Residual Current Devices (RCDs / Safety Switches).
The isolation transformer is a very handy device. Sometimes the RCD in the building switchboard is more sensitive than the portable device you are testing and therefore it trips first and causes unintended disruptions – the isolation transformer is used to prevent that happening.
